Hello, my name is Madison...

I’m a former YMCA counselor and babysitter, turned nanny, turned teacher, turned mom!
Thanks for being here! My name is Madison and I am a lover of outside, reading, baking, throwing pottery, and dairy products. I have a killer husband, a chubby son, three chickens, and two very high energy pups. We live together in a historic Colorado Springs neighborhood where we love to walk to the park, shops, restaurants, the farmers’ market and concerts in the summer! As for my background, I started babysitting at age 10 for kiddos in my neighborhood. I had a blast designing scavenger hunts to bring over and do with the kids, amongst crafts and other games. This really fueled my passion and interest in working with kids and I continued babysitting throughout college until I eventually became a summer nanny, and later a full time nanny. When it came time for me to get a job outside of babysitting I latched onto the idea of the YMCA. I originally applied to be a summer camp counselor and ended up accepting a position at an after school site at an elementary school. This was hands down the best thing that ever happened to me. I started at the program as a counselor the spring after I turned 16 and didn’t leave the program until I was a sophomore in college. This position led to a few promotions, and I left as the site coordinator, the day to day manager of the counselors and activities. During my time at the site I decided upon elementary teaching as a career, and met my husband :) While I worked after school year-round, during the summer I was invited to sub in at our YMCA’s Wee Camp. This camp was for toddlers ages 2 and 3. I graduated from North Carolina State University with a degree in Elementary Education in 2018 and then went on to teach one year of 5th grade in Virginia, and then two years of 4th grade in Colorado. After two years in Colorado my husband relocated for work to San Diego. I begrudgingly left a school I loved, and decided that pursuing a teaching license in a fourth state (I hold credentials in NC, VA, and CO) was ridiculous, especially knowing that we would only be in California for a year or two. I decided to take that time off and nanny full time. Reminiscing on how much I loved Wee camp- and wanting full time work, I exclusively interviewed with families that had toddlers. This personally, was the best decision I could have made for my time in CA. After a little over a year with the family I nannied for, I left them to have my own baby! Jude joined my husband and I in September 2022. Not knowing what exactly I wanted to do, but not being ready to go back to the classroom- or work outside of the home. I decided to channel my (limited) energy into writing. I have always been fond of writing, and if I am able to one day earn a living doing this then all the better! I hope that something here resonates with you, informs you, or comforts you! If you have questions you would like answered, please reach out! I would love to connect
